This is something I’ve wanted to build for a while, and I’ve finally managed to roll the first draft out. In time (and dependent on spam), I might overhaul the mechanics, but at least the concept is in place:
Right now, it’s simply scouring for links sent from South Africa (meaning that whether or not a link shows up is dependant on the user’s Location setting). Multiple links == higher scores. The idea here is to see which links are popular, based on how many RTs that link receives.
Of course, the initial version is being plagued by spam – both from South African users (shame on you!) and from non-SA users that have somehow been geolocated incorrectly. Still, it’s gathering links, so we’ll see what happens. It’ll take at least 2 weeks to get solid data on this sort of thing.
