Firearm Amnesty is so 2005
Every morning I take the train, I inevitably run across this billboard in the Cape Town Metrorail station.
I wonder why it hasn’t been replaced yet? And I also wonder, if the SAPS is paying for that billboard (in a very high commuter traffic area), how much its cost them (and hence, us taxpayers) to advertise a deadline that’s 3.5 years out of date?

Hahaha! Looks like someone is snoozing severely on the job.
Maybe it’s a conscience-pricker to all those criminals who still haven’t turned in their unlicenced firearms? Perhaps the aim of the board is to guilt them into doing the right thing. Love that hand visual tho’. Pfft.
See, the hand seems to indicate that there aren’t firearms to claim amnesty for in the first place. I’m guessing this ad is a reminder from the Government that “we’re bigger than you and can spend your money in the most creative of ways”.
Either that, or someone stole the scaffolding they need to get up there and change it. At this point, anything is likely.
