I haven’t blogged for quite some time now. It’s been a hectic week, with Acceleration’s annual conference. Tiring, but the early mornings and endless presentations were worth it. We had someone from Naspers, someone from Jupiter Research, and this other guy that nearly made me fall asleep (can’t remember his name, either).
The most lasting impression from all of that was a single slide from the Jupiter Research presentation. It’s an estimation of the share of European marketing spend - online vs. offline. I’d say the title says it all.

Funny to think how easy it is to get immersed in the relatively tiny world of the Internet. Reputations rise and fall in a virtual world of our own creation - and real life goes on regardless.
TV and print are very much alive, by the way, despite the doomsayers. The Internet still has a lot to make up for in terms of revenue generating power.
Apart from the conference and sitting on the train (which I had to take the whole week, argh), all I mostly did was catch up on Stargate SG-1, eat, and sleep. I slept little, because as I predicted, around 2pm on Saturday afternoon, I jolted awake with the sudden and overwhelming realization that I was missing Wordcamp.
I suppose it was a good thing. Had I actually woken up early that Saturday to catch a lift in to town to attend, I’d have been the crankiest bitch this side of Hitler - I ended up having a very late 4am-ish Saturday morning, working on a web app to make my reporting a little easier.
Stargate, just by the way, is a sci-fi series worth watching. Unlike some of the more terrible movies/series out there, if you start at Season 1, Episode 1 and work your way through, it’s downright amazing. I’m at Season 6 already, with quite a few episodes to go. This’ll be an interesting week :)
Another movie that really impressed me was 1408, but I’ll review that one in a seperate post. I also found a copy of “Dragon Wars” in my local video store. Waste of money.
In the coming week, I intend on at least getting the next (and hopefully last, please Lord) version of TwitterSA online. I seriously need to kill that one.
And what was that thing with Howard7 on muti? I wanted to see that vulgar image, dangit :/
