After coming across a post on a local tech blog (entitled “An Alternative Browser - Flock, and in depth review. “) I decided to give Flock a go.
So far? Wow. It really is as social as it sounds. If you haven’t tried Flock yet, it would be a good idea to download it - just follow the link.
I would write a more detailed review, but Quintin already covered that pretty extensively on his blog, so I’ll just point you in that direction.
Among other things, it integrates directly with many of the popular social media services, has a much cooler feed reader, and supports integrated blogging. Yes - a blogging engine built right into the browser. That’s largely why I’m using it right now :)
But it’s not just a loose collection of tools slapped on to a tacky version of Firefox - in fact, it’s a full-fledged browser. It’s based off Mozilla (apparently - I can’t confirm that right now ;), and so far, appears to handle just about everything better. Flock could very well become the future of web browsing.
Now if only it could make coffee for me … :|

Yep, flock is based on the mozilla engine, if you browse the site you will find their technical specs.
I can’t wait for the new version based on FF3 engine, that said I hope that the full version of FF3 is relatively trouble free and does not cripple the Flock browser in any way.

I’m still getting used to Flock. I’m not used to the absence of a “Stop Page Load” button yet. Everything else is behaving really well, though :)

When you do write up a review for it, hunt down and link to the blog post on Flock that announces the release of the current version. The Flock team is always happy to get some feedback on their browser.
